Dúqva̓ísḷa William Housty
Ng Ariss Fong, Lawyers, and White Raven Law Corporation are co-chairing an upcoming PBLI conference: Nothing About Us Without Us: Indigenous Jurisdiction Over Mining and Marine Territories, on October 31 & November 1, 2023.
Dúqva̓ísḷa William Housty, Haíɫzaqv Hím̓ás (Heiltsuk hereditary chief) and Associate Director of Heiltsuk Integrated Resource Management Department (HIRMD) will present on Heiltsuk Nation’s management of the Nation’s marine territories, and co-management with the Crown. He’s kindly given his thoughts on the Crown’s denial of the possibility of Aboriginal title to submerged lands beneath navigable waterways, and how this affects Heiltsuk’s co-management of the Nation’s marine territories, in today’s podcast.
